Hi. Welcome. I’m artist/writer/editor/reader Jan B. Parker, here to share quick insights into all of the above, for what it’s worth, from me to you. I’m a self-taught everything above, so these insights will not be academically wrought but rendered from time and experience, what works and what doesn’t. Taking workshops under the tutelage of authors like Ron Rash, Michael Parker, Vickie Lane, and others have broadened my horizons and so, though you’ve probably heard it a-thousand-million times, the insight for this first-ever Blog is this:

Become an active part of your writing community. Go to writing meetups. Join a critique group. Form an open mic night. Announce it through a larger organization such as the fine one we have here in NC, the North Carolina Writers’ Network. Join the Authors Guild Foundation. Take what makes sense to you and leave the rest. Online is fine, but face time is great. Be a part of what you love and watch your garden grow.
